SCM Model

The Supply Chain Center
Where Strategy, Operations, and Technology Come Together
Plan the Business, Plan the Supply Chain

The Supply Chain Center team has spent years assessing, analyzing, and improving supply chain functions for a wide variety of companies.  This experience has caused us to reflect on what works, and more importantly what doesn’t work, when companies embark on critical SCM projects. Our Optimized Supply Chain captures the realities of today’s challenges more comprehensively.  The partial high-level representation (above) incorporates the business planning with the supply chain planning as one key success factor.  Other success factors include providing for Channel planning, returns, and a variety of internal or outsourced operations.  It is a robust & structured framework yet it has the flexibility to allow customization for any given situation.

2009 SCMM

The engine which drives the Optimized Supply Chain is our Supply Chain Maturity Model (SCMM).  This model (depicted above) was first developed in 1996 by our team and has been updated to reflect the demands of the 21st Century Supply Chain.

Our Model portrays the Performance/Capabilities Continuum against a backdrop of our Optimized Supply Chain.  While Performance and Capabilities are important, they are not the only focus of the SCMM.  Our Model recognizes and accounts for the fact that within a company different functions can be at higher or lower levels of maturity than others. We help you align functions and processes, whether they are internal or outsourced, in a way that capitalizes on their strengths and future opportunities while providing for growth along the maturity continuum.
